Each year, Consumer Reports lists their top five smart money moves for the new year. The January 2019 issue of Consumer Reports recommended joining a Direct Primary Care practice membership as one of those smart five.

Why?   Their answer: “DPC practices typically offer almost unfettered access to one of their primary care physicians and general services such as prevention screenings and diagnostic tests. Minor urgent care services, such as stitches, are also available. Clients pay a flat fee of usually less than $100 per month.” That is great!.

More importantly, the better reason is that patients get a better model of medical care through a restored doctor/patient relationship, keeping them healthier and helping them avoid the need for ER visits hospitalizations, expensive unnecessary testing. They also enjoy more convenient care, being able to reach their doctor when needed and be treated by virtual visits to avoid waiting rooms and long drives or miss work.

So, if you haven’t already check out a DPC practice in your area. We have one at, CARES Direct but there are others springing up throughout North Alabama, see this link for a national map.
